Employees always look forward for payroll day while small business owners look at it as a major administrative headache. This is because small business payroll requires spending regular hours making calculations, writing and signing checks, depositing tax money in various accounts and completing government reports. There are also quarterly filing and tax-payment requirements along with occasional phone calls from the tax collector with a question about something you have already forgotten.
It is not surprising then that payroll is one of the most commonly outsourced responsibilities in small businesses. Some business owners either turn to an in-house accountant to do it or hire a third party service that specializes in handling payroll. Some companies even get assistance from payroll software used in-house.
