Whether you own a one-person entity or you have a staff of ten, bookkeeping is an essential part of any small business enterprise. Small business bookkeeping is a difficult job but is at the center of any company’s success. If errors are made, they can create problems for the company.
Some of the common errors committed:
~Doing the books yourself – Instead, hire a competent bookkeeper to handle the books and who have the skills to do the job quickly and efficiently.
~Not tracking reimbursable expenses – When you pay for business expenses using your personal credit card, make note of them and submit the expenses to the company for reimbursement.
~Failure to properly classify employees – Determine who is on staff and who are the independent contractors, consultants and freelancers in the company as there are different rules and regulations when it comes to filing taxes for employees and non-employees.
